How do websites like youtube.com & facebook.com make money?
I was wondering how social networks such as facebook.com make money? Websites such as youtube.com, and wikipedia.com also come to mind. There seems to be little to no advertising, and the amount, if any of advertising they have seems small, and oblique, making me assume revenue from these ads do not equate to the costs of operating such sites.
I understand youtube.com has not been a profitable company at all, at least until Google.com had purchased it. No word on how that will change it’s revenue though.
