HELP! How come I cant view videos on Torrent Portal it says media player cannot play the file?

Im trying to download the season 2 premier Episode 1 of VERONICA MARS that I missed.

Often, video files are shared in the .avi format and some popular media players are unable to play .avi files. If you are using Windows Media Player you’ll need to update to WMP11 beta which finally supports .avi files and will play them.
